Cranberry sauce with orange
Fifteen minutes on the stove and it keeps for days. Make it first and get it out of the way.
15 minutes, plus cooling · Makes about 2 cups
What you’ll need
- 12 oz fresh cranberries
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 cup water
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Let’s make it.
- Combine the sugar, orange juice, water and cinnamon stick in a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the cranberries and cook over medium heat, stirring now and then, until most of the berries have burst and the sauce has thickened, about 10 minutes.
- Take the pan off the heat. Stir in the orange zest and salt and remove the cinnamon stick.
- Let it cool. It thickens as it sits. Keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days.
