Cookbook Market started in 2010 as a small neighborhood market in Echo Park - a place to find farmers market produce, fresh bread, a wedge of good cheese, and whatever ingredient you forgot on the way home for dinner.

In 2020, when the pandemic hit, the original owners reached out to longtime fans of the shop, chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo and their partner Helen Johannesen. They had already been running their own version of something similar, keeping their community fed during an uncertain time. Taking on Cookbook felt like a natural extension of that - a chance to preserve something the neighborhood loved and carry it forward.

Today, Cookbook has three locations: Echo Park, Highland Park, and Larchmont Village. The ethos hasn't changed: everything chosen with intention, stocked with care, and rooted in community. We are your neighborhood marketplace - seasonal produce, curated goods, unique housewares, and housemade pastries, wine, prepared foods and sandwiches, available at all three. At Larchmont, the newest market, a chef-driven café serves breakfast and lunch using the ingredients right off the shelves.

Our Philosophy

We stock what we believe in. Every item on our shelves was chosen on purpose - sourced from farmers, bakers, and makers who are passionate about what they create. We curate with care so that every visit feels like a discovery.
